The 2007 World Freestyle Kayak Championship will be held on the Ottawa River from April 27 to May 5.

The Event is run by Wilderness Tours.


The Competition

The showdown will happen at Bus Eater rapids, conditions permitting. (If the river level is inconveniently high, the competition moves to the Gladiator wave at Coliseum rapids.)

Monday, April 30
8 a.m.: men’s preliminaries

Tuesday, May 1
8 a.m.: junior men and women preliminaries
1 p.m.: senior women’s preliminaries
4 p.m.: C1 and OC1 preliminaries

Wednesday, May 2:
8 a.m.: men's quarter finals
2 p.m.: women's quarter finals

Thursday, May 3:
1 p.m.: squirt (men and women)

Friday, May 4:
8 a.m.: SEMI-FINALS (order: women, C1, junior men, men)

Saturday, May 5:
8 a.m.: FINALS (order: junior women, junior men, OC1, C1, women, men)
8 p.m.: closing ceremonies


Getting There

The competition site on the Ottawa River is about an hour and a half from the city of Ottawa, or a good four hours from Toronto.

driving, from Ottawa
- go west on highway 417
- before you hit Cobden, turn right onto County Road 7
- turn left onto County Road 7
- head through the (itty bitty) town of Foresters Falls, following the signs to the rafting companies like Owl and Wilderness Tours.

driving, from Toronto
- highway 401 east to Napanee
- highway 41 north to Eganville
- when you get to Eganville, you'll go over the dam/bridge and turn right at the lights (highway 60)
- follow highway 60 to County Road 8
- take County Road 8 to Cobden
- turn right onto highway 17
- follow highway 17 to County Road 7
- turn left onto County Road 7
- head through the (itty bitty) town of Foresters Falls, following the signs to the rafting companies like Owl and Wilderness Tours.
