Galapagos Islands
The Galapagos Islands are part of Ecuador, and are found in the Pacific Ocean, approximately 600 miles (965 km) from the coast of Ecuador.
The islands gained their fame when Charles Darwin used the biodoversity of the islands as examples to illustrate his theory of natural selection.

Geography
The islands consist of 13 main islands and six smaller islands. Many of the islands are volcanic, and erruptions have occurred as recently as 2005.
