Introducing Mr. Quetico - Dave Maynard

My staff pick for Ontario Parks employee of the month - Dave Maynard

The staff at Quetico Provincial Park helped our film crew immensely while working on the Friends of Quetico film project for the park's 100th. birthday celebration and I’d like to place a special thank you for them in the blog. They were amazing and we couldn’t have pulled off the project without them. One person in particular truly deserves extra credit. Assistant Superintendent, Dave Maynard. This guy is a Quetico legend. Not only did he help with airport shuttles, bush flights, resupply drop offs, park permits and gathering canoeists for interviews, Dave let the crew live at his house between trips, handed over his personal truck for us to drive around and basically befriended us the entire time we were there.

Dave has been working for Quetico Park for 33 years and is happier paddling around the park then he is working behind a desk. He had this great comment to say after reminiscing with us one evening “Thinking back I believe the park doesn’t owe me, I owe the park.” When’s the last time you heard a government employee say that???

Thanks Dave.
