UPDATE: Palmer Fest Registrations Open
UPDATE: As of Tuesday, March 10, organizers say this event is already 30% sold out.
Original post: The annual Palmer Fest paddling festival, at Palmer Rapids on the Madawaska River in Ontario, is now accepting registrations
This year, the event is broken into a Canoe and Sea Kayak component, and the traditional whitewater component.
According to Scott MacGregor, the festival director:
This year we've added a new Canoe and Sea Kayak Weekend to Palmer Fest this year, May 8-10, 2009. The Whitewater Weekend is May 15-17, 2009 will remain pretty much as you know it (including the Single Blade Symposium 6), with some new intermediate, advanced and kid clinics, additional vendors and some other new, fun stuff.
The Canoe and Sea Kayak Weekend will be modeled after Palmer Fest but will cater to sea kayakers and lakewater canoeists of all levels. The Madawaska River allows us to run introductory clinics as well as intermediate and advanced clinics like: surfing, tides and currents, and paddling in boils... using the river as our private inland ocean.
To ensure we provide the best instruction (and the right amount of meals) you must pre-register for the event, including picking all your clinics. Palmer Fest sells out 6-8 weeks in advance, so please register early so not to be disappointed.
