My footbeds have SOLE
My feet have SOLE, and they're glad. Calgary based SOLE makes heat moldable insoles for everything from hiking boots to cycling shoes (I reviewed the the Ed Vistures signature model in the August 2007 issue of Explore), as well as sport socks and some of the most comfortable flip flops on earth (more on them in a minute).
This morning, after my last training run in preparation for a mountain running race this weekend, I noticed that my feet didn't hurt despite the long descent and logging road miles. And when I took my shoes off there was no foot odour either. Okay, there was a little, but it could and has been much worse. I give full credit to the SOLE Dean Karnazes signature model footbeds. I've been using my original pair of these running specific shock absorbers and body aligners for more than a year and when I pull them out of my shoes they still don't stink. The reason, I'm sure, is the silver worked into them, an anti-microbial fighter. That's nothing new, but the longevity is. I also tend to get sore hips and knees when I run regularly, but with proper arch support, I'm now able to run more often. I can't give the footbeds full credit, but they do contribute. I'm now onto my second pair. I highly recommend them.
At retail they cost about $60 and you can get them online for around $56.
This summer SOLE branched out into the world of flip flops, coming out with the Platinum Sandal, designed off their heat moldable footbeds. Through use the soft footbed conforms to the foot. Right out of the box these are seriously comfortable sandals. I'm not a big flip flop wearer but I wore these daily, pre or post activity or just hanging out. It may not be the sandal season, but when it creeps up on you sometime late next spring, keep these floppers in mind.
They retail for about $90 and a little less online.
